AI Contribution Policy ​

This policy provides guidance for contributors and maintainers of IronCore regarding the use of Generative AI. This document extends the guidance provided by the Linux Foundation.

Contributors are free to use any tools they see fit for their contributions. But as a contributor you are responsible for what you submit, regardless of the tool used to produce it. This includes the following responsibilities:

  • You must review and understand your contribution, and be able to explain it during review.
  • You should engage with other community members yourself, not copy & paste replies from AI tools.
  • You are the author of the contribution and must follow the Contributing guidelines, in particular sign the DCO.
  • You must ensure all contributions comply with IronCore licensing.

Maintainers will judge contributions based on their quality, not the tool used to create it.

Maintainers may close or request rework of low-effort AI contributions that don't meet our quality bar or shift the review burden onto them.
